Welcome to the second game in the DFECT Series: PONG DFECT.

PONG DFECT takes the standard expectations of pong and adds one vital feature, lanes. Shifting between lanes is a lot like swapping positions in tennis. A forward position can make it tougher for the opponent to react! Shifting from the back to the front while hitting a ball can launch it forward!

Because pico-8 has limited input, paddles have an acceleration and slide effect to vertical paddle movement. Holding X (Z on keyboard) will apply the "Brakes", slowing your movement, and making things easier to control. Aside from that feature, you can also adjust the slide and speed of the paddle in the paddle configuration! This is a per-paddle configuration, so each player can have different settings that work best for them!

• Export/Import configuration settings!
  • In the pause menu, there's an option for either of these.  
  • Exporting will copy the code to your clipboard.
  • Importing will use your last-pasted code to set configuration options (Use Control/Cmd+V before selecting Import!)
• Up to 4 player multiplayer!
  • The first two can be on keyboard, the remaining require their own controller. Best experienced with four controllers, though.
• Tune CPU for you!
  • CPU Difficulty setting changes the accuracy of the paddle, how close it tries to hit center
  • Adjusting the speed, size, brake strength, and drift can drastically change the behavior of the CPU!
• Tune individual paddles anyway you want!
  • Want a bigger paddle? No sliding? Colored pink? You've got it!
• Configurable Lanes!
  • The standard gameplay has two lanes, but you can try out having all four lanes active and travel between them!
• Ball Lighting Effect!
  • This is configurable, like most things, but the ball will light up the field edges! This makes the game look fancy!
